This site also offers lessons to buy as downloads, please check out the STORE, lessons range from beginner, intermediate to advanced and include graded Jazz solos for Jazz exams grade 1 through to grade 8, suitable solos for these syllabus exams.
These lessons downloads are not expensive nor are they off putting pages and pages long but focussed on specific tasks and are uniquely back up with the whole lesson as an audio file for Bb and Eb Saxophones.

I have written and designed these great learning aids during years of teaching when creating tailored lessons for my students. where numerous endless books are distracting, random and too elborate or unfocssed these lesson pages are practical, effective and clear for best results to improve your Saxophone playing based on what stage your playing is at and what you want to or could learn so from fundamental scale exercises to practising and assimilating the style and techniques of the great Saxophonists.
TEACHING ONE TO ONE
Lessons are available in Hoylake at my home in a dedicated music studio and I'm available to visit you upon request.
I mainly teach within the jazz, soul, blues, pop, rock idiom but that doesn’t mean there are no classical studies, there are, they’re also great to play and learn from.
Along with African and Latin derived or influenced music I feel it’s important to at least appreciate how these various types of music are derived.
We look at and learn song form from various music sources but for those who want to concentrate on for example the blues, well that’s fine also.
The lessons are designed to be fun whilst increasing the knowledge base from lesson to lesson, so we concentrate on making you a musician from lesson #1 where we aim to be playing music straight away.

How to develop "playing by ear"
Music theory (comprised of scales,arpeggios,chords,harmony)
Technique (in the form of scale, arpeggio and music studies / etudes)
I aim to provide the student with all the tools in order to perform music competently, confidently and with some degree of finesse and more importantly to learn to teach themselves play music, based on a few simple principles.
Lessons are
£27 per hour, discounted to £23 per hour when bought in blocks of 5 or more. £23 per 45 mins, discounted to £20 when bought in blocks of 5 or more
I prefer to teach from home but will consider travelling to your home if you prefer, see contacts page for details of where to find me and get in touch.
Screen to screen online one to one lessons are available every day - they work just as well as ‘in person’ lessons.
Generally for online lessons I set specific work with emailed sheets and MP3s for students to come back to the following lesson with and even make videos for me to assess their progress and advise. Lessons are available on any device with various apps like Skype, Zoom, Face Time, Facebook messenger calls and WhatsApp video call. Costs for online lessons including discounts are as quoted.
Now with the Covid crisis is easing taking up the Sax is once again a possibility with one to one lessons here in Hoylake where I have installed some screening in my teaching studio.
